Born in New-Brunswick in 1974, Pierre Michaud completed his doctorate in composition at Université de Montréal with complementary studies at the Ján Levoslav Bella Conservatory (Slovakia), Université de Moncton, Mount Allison University and at the Institut de recherche et coordination acoustique/musique (Ircam) in Paris.
Back in Canada in 2000 after a six year stay in Slovakia, Pierre Michaud is particularly interested in new technology and its integration within the creative process. His research in presently based on the analysis of declamation.
Pierre Michaud’s compositions have been heard in concert series and festivals in many cities in Canada, Central America, Asia and in Europe. His music has been performed by musicians such as: Quatuor Bozzini, Ensemble de la SMCQ, Susan Narucki, Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, CBC Radio Orchestra, Bratislava Chamber Soloists and was broadcasted by the Slovak State Radio, CBC Radio Two and Espace musique.
Pierre Michaud has been teaching composition at the Université de Montréal Music Faculty since 2012.
