To Anders Blomqvist, in memoriam

Louder Than Life, in five movements, is dedicated to my dearest friend, composer Anders Blomqvist (1956-2020). While the work is intended to be listened to in its entirety; separate movements, or combination of movements, may also be played.

Louder Than Life was realized in 2020-21 at the composer’s studio in Gothenburg (Sweden) and premiered on September 30, 2021 in the Mehrzwecksaal of the Akademie der bildenden Künste Wien in Vienna (Austria) during the festival Echoes Around Me produced by The Acousmatic Project. The movement Adagio was awarded the 1st prize ex æquo (senior category — over 50 years old) at the 12th Biennial Acousmatic Composition Competition Métamorphoses (Brussels, Belgium, 2022).
