Sam Mitchell is a composer and PhD candidate at Leeds Beckett University (Leeds, England, UK), and his work ranges from film soundtracks and sound design to performance pieces and installations. He is currently concentrating on acousmatic music in a multichannel environment, principally using Higher-order Ambisonics (HOA) and Dolby Atmos. His interests include memory, the tension between natural and human initiated processes, the materialities of sound as a force independent of reason, and the way that space can be delineated within the acousmonium. His sonic materials include field recordings, archival sounds, and material generated with a modular synthesizer, with a focus on procedural generation of sequences.
