A short sound poem about the sweet scents of Japan. This is a reproduction of sound environments recorded in and around Tokyo in 2025, along with a montage of sound objects taken from my sound banks.

Bell haikus and Japan’s call, outbreaks of voices, Japanese cities and nature, plus some human imprints illustrated by familiar objects. These artifacts are travel memories being confronted to ecological and human traces accrued over time.

Some passages of Haïku were inspired by Haïkus (2016-20), a work by Belgian composer Annette Vande Gorne; they were composed for a concert organized for her 80th birthday.

Haïku was realized in 2025 at the composer’s studio (Studio Séducson) in Montréal (Québec) and was premiered on January 7, 2026 at the concert Concert hommage: 80 ans d’Annette Vande Gorne presented at Le Senghor in Brussels (Belgium). The work was revised in 2026 and now functions as a preamble to Artéfacts. Nods to Adrien and Elliot.
